Sorry for the vague title and info here...but not sure where to start.

What can cause excessive wheel spin?  Reason for asking is that up until recently I never really experience much wheel spin, and now it's all gone a bit pear shaped.

I used to be on Yoko 32's....the car would handle perfectly and I had a lot of confidence driving it.  I then decided to get a set of spare minilites that i had refurb'd and a set of Blockley tyres put on.  Shortly afterwards, the car went in for a checkup and one thing that was noted was it was handling really poorly although they didn't mention anything about wheel spin.  The garage then spent a while working on the whole geometry settings etc until it was better.

However. once all done and dusted I noticed it now wheel spins like crazy..I even put my original set of minlites back on with the Yoko 32's...a bit better but still wheel spins.

So...I'm left with a car that supposedly has had it's geometry all checked and 2 sets of wheels both of which are giving me wheel spin.  The car does handle much better...just this damn spinning.  Nightmare at junctions...people must think i've got a right issue.

I'm running on a 1310, 3.73 FD.  Last checked out on a rolling road @104bhp at the wheels.  I don't think this makes much difference as the spec is the same when I 'didn't' have these wheel spin issues.

Am i missing something here?

James

thanks for the replies so far.....

so just for a bit more info (base on some of the questions come back to me).

setup is 1310 A serie.  weber 45. Swiftune SW8 cam.  x-pin diff. 3.73 Final drive. Swiftune/CSI electronic distributor.

I don't have the camber/toe info to hand...but I can get that from the garage.

not corner weighted..never has been (and never had issues until now).

broken damper - no.  These were recently checked.  I'm running Spax adjustables...might be worth double checking those and making some adjustments down there to help?

Definitely no suspension collapse...all 4 wheels are definitely where they should be.

more tyres - yep.  Probably a good shout there.  Admittedly, when i put my old Yokos back on, the wheel spin did reduce and was better than the Blockleys.  Perhaps a new set of Yokos would do the trick.  thanks

Get it corner weighted and a full suspension set up. You'll probably find it's just the compound change on the tyres and the engine being run in

Also try different ways on the clutch

If it's the same wheel that spins every time, then as Imack alluded to, your corner weights will be out.

Most I've found with this issue have Hilos in the front. Looking at how they had been adjusted / set, it was clear that one of the cones had collapsed.
