Hi Everyone, Im Jeremy from Matlock Derbyshire

I have just bought an absoulte wreck of a 1968 998 Cooper Mk2 but Im sure I will make it live again?

Im a bit daunted by what I have bought, to be honest, but with some help with advice off here I dont think theres anything impossible with a Mini (apart from the one on Bangers & Cash perhaps?)

I Hope to be joining in on the forum, I am a mechanic by trade with good general vehicle and mini knowledge but not a great specilist in the bodywork department?

I have been helping my friend Restore a 1966 Cooper S and will put up some photos when my profile allows.

Cheers for now

Jeremy.....

Thanks..

I can do it, its just my project is a bit far gone for a home restoration and im just worried about alignment and gaps, which are everything to a good looking desirable mini

I just need to get inventive...

Depends on your finances but I'd suggest you do what I did and have the bodywork/paint done by an expert and restore the rest yourself while the shell's being done. You get it on the road more quickly and with a genuine cooper of that age it's certainly worth spending the money to get it done properly. Coming to Matlock on holiday later this year!

Hi, Im going to do as much of the welding repairs as I can and I can do the mechanical with my eyes closed.

When it comes to the main cosmetic bits I might sub that out, I wanted to do a early car because I just love the minimal design and they were the origional DNA of the design

You will have to come and check on my progress, its going to take a while?
