Hi I am doing a gentle resto on my '71 mini, purchased recently.

The car was originally a Morris Mini 1000 but was professionally rebuilt to customer order in 2000 with a Heritage shell and 1275cc engine.

It is painted Strawberry White and had 12" wheels and later brakes as part of the build.

To me the car is too much of a mix of early and late Mini styles.  The plan (underway) is to give it a more period look in keeping with the '71 number plate.  Brake size reduction, 10" Minilites, no arches, chrome edging and black roof.

But what is Black?  Is there a paint code for that correct looking gloss black roof on late 60's coopers?

Or any suggestions as to what would look right?

Hi Pete, they were on the car when I bought it a month ago, so not sure where they are from.

They are removed now.  They are undamaged, excellent paint and complete with rubber protection strips and screws.  A bonus is that they don't need holes drilled in the wings, the screws go from underneath into the wing edge strip, much less of a rust danger.

So Snowberry White and Black roof BK1 was definitely a colour combo on Cooper and S in 67 - 69.  Just what I wanted to know.  Should look good on my "pretender".

Thanks again

Like everything else in life, it's a matter of personal taste. On mine which did have a straight black roof, when it was repainted I chose Metallic Panther black (Ford colour) which, I think, really pops, especially in sunshine.

Difficult to capture in a photograph: the left of the first shot is closer to what your eye sees than the right. Best find a car, in the colour, to appreciate how it looks 'in the flesh'.

Check this:

https://www.theminif...ches-directory/

Think they are Midland Wheel Supplies (now JBW?) deluxe - think they were also known as W&P deluxe by some as they fit through the arch lip in the same way and are a similar shape/profile except extended under the bumper line which std W&P don't - they maybe a touch wider than the std ones also I think

I think they used to be more commonly available a few years ago - try looking at some of the composite suppliers (Arc Angels ABS motorsport etc etc) to see if they do them (as I guess you're interested to get some maybe  :D )

Sorry that should have been Snowberry White in the original post.

I think the arches are Wood and Picket.  The ones I have removed will be available soon ....
