Did some of the newer mini ‘s come with a plastic version of these or am i making this up😀 I am sure when i stripped my Sprite a few years back they were plastic but dumped them and can only find the vinyl material version for sale.

don't think there was any solid plastic trims(happy to be corrected!), maybe on some coach built minis, the ones you took off the sprite were probably vinyl that had gotten crispy with age!
*edit: the c-pillar trims are backed with a rigid-ish card
