Looking for a discreet location to place a pop out cup holder, decided the next to useless cubby hole door was a fine solution.

Should be ok with the weight of the cup & drink. The door itself does not hang freely down, as it hits the lower dash rail before reaching vertical. So not flapping about with road bumps and all the extreme G-forces incurred while tearing up the pavement in my mini
I recall back in the '80s I had a flimsy plastic hanger type that hooked into the door edge at the window glass. Certainly bendy and wobbly enough to cause issues but seemed fine when loaded.

I made this simple cup holder out of some ABS plastic from the scrap pile. It's bolted to the outside seat bracket.
