What appilcations are people using to review logs?

I have MegaLog Viewer and it works for SC and Megasquirt logs, but I cannot get it to read a RoverMEMS log.

I have tried transposing and truncating, but it won't recognize it.

Hi tmsmini

mems logfiles are sometimes written in hex format and sometimes in real letters ,separated by ","or";"

With mems rosco you can visualise all of them as graphs and read them like in excel.

With excel you can read all of them but it is a bit of work to transform hex to dec.

With memsanalyser (rmr soft) you may read and visualise part of them.

Some (especially mems-diag) do not log all of the available information.

Test yourself.

I am using James Portmans Rover - MEMS web application which produces a CSV. It opens fine in excel, I was just hoping to use a log viewer to pick out applicable Mini values and play them back with MegaLog Viewer

On his last webside James offered to change and play back the bin.

I will reach out to him. It may be that there is not really any generated time code in the logs. The row count should be able to be converted to a modified time code pretty easily I would think.

At this point I am not chasing a particular issue. I need to swap my lambda sensor and then review anothe log to check the status.

But MegaLog Viewer is great for comapring values at certain points in time. It allows the play back of multiple graphs simultaneously and the axes can be expanded and contacted.

You can search for values above or below a certain point. It is a very handy tool for reviewing EFI logs.

hi tmsmini,

read the manual for megalogfileviewer. Then open a readible file with  e.g. notepad or an other editor.

Do the same with the mems file. I had to add a comma to the first line and a sample line like this:Sample #,Seconds,,,,,,,,,,,,,,%,,,,,,,,,kPa Baro,Volts (DC),,,Block#,BLM,,,%,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Degrees ©,,,,,,,,AFR,%,%,RPM,,,,,,,,,%,,,,,,Seconds,Degrees (F),Degrees,Grad©,,,,,,,Units,MPG,,,,,,,,,,,,,Units,,,,Units,,,,,,,,DC%,Milliseconds,Lbs/hr,Counts,Counts,Degrees,Counts,,,RPM,,,,,Degrees C,bar,,,,,,,,Counts,mV,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Degrees,,,,,,,,,RPM,,,,,,,,,,%,,,Volts,,,,,,,kmh,AFR,,

to the end of the field describtions.

Then I added the new field names to the log viewer and voila

attached is a mems logfile as an example witch a new sample line in the header.

Thank you for taking a look at this.

I was actually just starting to look at the file formats outside of excel.

could you attach a logfile? I guess the limiter is : ","  in this case you possibly have to state the limiter under options other  double quoted like "",""

This is a log captured by James portman's  Rover MEMS web application, is that what you are looking for?

Where did you find a amnual for MegaLog Viewer? I have looked on the website and do not find it.

this log is empty!I could open it with no problems on default setting. You should contact James that he might attach a timestamp.

I thaught he uses csv files, maybe Andrew Jackson uses csv files, i have never seen this format but I can include it in mems-rosco..

With manual i thaught about the help files.

Sorry

The file as saved was a CSV, but it is not an allowed file type for upload. I resaved as aTXT file.

I don't think the log is empty, the web app starts creating entries as soon as you start the app, even before it is connected. It may have a number of rows of null values before it is connected.

hi tmsmini,

you were right.

I opened the file in excel -> deleted line 2 to 252 -added a row ->formatted as time-> filled with time->copied first line to the end of first line with "Sample#" in between-> renamed some of the fields to their meaning->added an empty field-saved everything. You may have to play with it a bit, i m not used to megalogviewer. On my project i m satitisfied with Rt Tunerpro :-)

No alphabetical order under options! Here it is:
