Hi. I have an 1980 New Zealand 1275 GT with the matching engine and vin number. There doesn’t seem to be a vin number stamped in the gutter by the scuttle that I can see. Possibly because they are NZ assembled so they wouldn’t know what was going to be what until they made them?

There is a number stamped on the slam panel to the right of the catches but the number doesn’t seem to match anything I’m aware of. 070 09 9E. Thoughts?

80 would not have the stamped number on the skuttle as it did not start till mid to late 80s

you would need a local specialist to help you out with this one. I know the Aus builds had a number stamped on the bulkhead.

Any thoughts?     -yup, lager, voluptuous redheads, & getting at least one of my Minis back on the road before i croak.... as for your query - isn't that stamped number standard on NZMC Panmure built 1275GTs?

Unfortunately i can't get a clear enough image to make out the numbers/letters to see if they are the same....

Haha. Good thoughts.

Ah that would make sense. I did see that same car register picture when I was browsing through and thought it looked a similar length stamp in a similar place.

Was just about to complete a rebuild but wanted to make sure it was the original chassis before I spend too much on it!
