They're all much the same of that early type design.  I think red was generally used by MiniSport but could be wrong.

The kit only consists of the (red) aluminium part, the stick itself and a couple of small bolts.

would it be worth while replacing with the KAD short shift, or indeed their normal shift?

Does the one currently fitted work? If yes I'd leave it fitted

As above, if it works leave it it be.

If it doesn't work, or crunches in to gear, it may be an issue within the gearbox as much as with the gearstick - so change it may not solve anything (other than lightening your wallet)

 

Some people love them, some hate them - they really are a marmite thing!

to be honest I haven't really driven the car much yet. the gears seem fine... a little bitey which I'm wondering could be down to the engine steady bushes needing replaced.

I just liked the idea of having the collar for reverse on the KAD shifters. maybe one for the future.
