Front Subframe

suspension

Best Answer MiniMadRacer , 08 April 2021 - 05:51 PM

I would think the bracket has broken before and someone has tried to weld it up by cutting a slot in the frame to slide the bracket in and get maximum penetration.. it is hard to get the welding torch fully in from the other side due to the shape of the frame...

I would have it re welded to stop the chance of the bracket breaking off in the future... it does not have to be a pretty weld and no one can see it once all installed but it does have to be solid..

Hi just removed front sub frame off my 96 spi, and found a gap in the front bar next to the front engine steady bar brkt.

The brkt has been welded on to the bar,and it looks like the front beam of the sub frame splits at this point and is welded together but there is a gap?.

Should i get this gap filed before powder coating?. Every thing came off ok (front mtgs) when removing.

Thanks
