Afternoon all,

Resurrecting the 1293 turbo build after a few years of being a poor student.

I've attached a spreadsheet I'm working on of what I need or have, so you know it's officially under way. Let me know what I'm missing.

Buying my Mum's 998cc 1986 mini city, which I'm very happy has a flip-front end.

First thing will be going over to Middle-Of-Nowhere-France to collect it when possible and driving it up to Edinburgh.

Second thing will be changing the brakes from drum to disc. I thought about buying a conversion kit, but buying the individual parts appears to be much cheaper.

Next will be tidying it up and strengthening the subframe and anything else to prepare it for turbo charging.

After that, saving up for parts - e.g. cylinder head from Phil, along with many many many other parts.

It will be a long process, probably over a good few years but I'll try to document the build as best as I can for those interested, as well as something to look back on when I'm older, probably as a whitepaper on what not to do.

Looking forward to being back in the mini crowd again.

Cheers,

Will

Awesome... sounds like you have a wonderful project to look forward to with a great plan forward already set in place... I’m doing the same currently

12G940 has been bought off of eBay, I'll have to put in an order with Phil soon to get it ready for a turbo.

Keeping my eye out for an A+ crank now!

Speak to Phil early, his waiting list and lead times are huge at the moment, he's a busy bloke!

Cheers Steve yeah he's definitely in demand, no surprises there though, only heard good things. I'm not in a huge rush at the moment though, but hoping to put in an order by August.

Last time I spoke to him, he wasn't taking on work until September, and it takes a few months to turn them round.

Very slight scoring, will probably need a grind but for the most part it's in pretty great condition
