Afternoon all,

So a little while back, while pulling my engine out, I did a very silly thing and didn't check that I had proper clearance while bringing the engine over the slam panel. One of the diff bolts caught the body and this was the result...

Bloody fuming. But anyway...

The car is sprays in 2k bass and 2k clear. I have the paint, and all necessary equipment for spraying 2k, but I don't know how to tackle a repair like this. I really don't want to respray the whole front panel so what is the best way to spot repair this? Can I blend in 2k? The chip is deep and has gone down to bare metal, but it's not very big.

Any advice would be great. I'd be happy as long as it ends up looking better than just dabbing it in with a brush

Cheers

Chris

If it was me i’d spot prime the chip, flat around it then cover a small area with base, then clear over a greater area to blend. Upol do a good fade out thinner in a can (one of their #) ranges that i’ve used which blends the dry edge of clear into the original clear.

Ive also used their smart clear in cans and gun form, pretty good for smart repairs.

I would fill it with Dolphin Glaze and spot it in with a brush for the base and mini spray gun for lacquer Steve..

Don't try and level it with filler it will always show.Sand it back, feather the layers of paint, prime and paint. For such a small repair you may as well paint to the edges of the panel.Soft edge mask the areas you don't want to paint.....a bigger picture would be better to advise properly
