The wires to my inertia cut off switch on my project had been cut and joined together, guessing the switch was dodgy and they cut off the plug and joined the wires.

I've sourced a correct cut off switch with a plug and a couple of wire tails, but not from a mini and the wires are different colours to the original loom. Has anyone got a picture of the spi wires going to the pin outs on the switch plug so I can see where they are supposed to go please.

Added a pic of the plug I have, are the wires in the correct pinouts?

It won't matter which ones go where, it's a voltage in, voltage out to the pump.

Thanks Steve, are the wires on the correct pin outs? So I take it the switch is just a "breaker" when you have a bump it just breaks the circuit until you reset it? Not used to this modern tech on a Mini, first SPi I've owned

the middle pin on the inertia switch should connect to the power in terminal when the switch is tripped, so you can use that to work out which of the outer pins is power in and which is power out

as Steve points out though, if you're just using two connections, then it doesn't matter which way round they're connected

so would the middle pin be used to light up a warning light on the dash? If used on a different make of car?

that's what i've used it for, but could possibly have other uses (e.g unlock doors in a crash)

Wow, that's an amazing idea! In the 15+ years and 25k miles I have down with my SPi, I have only had an issue with this switch once. I as driving through NYC and hit a MASSIVE pothole that triggered it. It was pretty obvious though. Massive bang from pothole and the car cut off. Still, not a bad idea to add an idiot light just to be safe.

Hello.

What size / spec cable (wires) did you use from the new inertia switch back to the fuel pump?

i used 1mmthinwall, but that was for a facet fuel pump, not the SPI pump
