Hi All,

After some advice, I have been offered a Metro Turbo engine for 2k, which I didn’t think was too badly priced. My concern is the condition of the engine, the guy selling it couldn’t give me too much detail about it as he bought the car with it in.

I don’t want to go and shell out 2k on an engine that may be battered, is there anything from a visual point of view I could look for, when I go and view it? I have a 1275 I have taken out of mine and stripping down, so I could always use bits from that (assuming they are compatible).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

They aren't all that special really. Are you wanting to run it with a turbo, are all the ancils included.

I got mine out of  a skip for a tenner - but that was a few years ago!

2k for an unknown engine is a lot of money. I certainly wouldn’t be willing to pay that unless I knew it’s history or it was completely stripped for inspection.
Standard turbo engines are nothing special & discounting the bolt on parts your essentially buying a stock 1275 A+ unit with some better pistons.

Phil.

A compression test on each cylinder would give you a good indication of condition
