I am interested in upgrading the wheels on my '96 Rover Mini Cooper SPI  to 6 x 12 ‘ They are 12" now so it is only the width that will change,

. With a normal height mini, is there any chance of the tyres rubbing on the wing when turning? I would be fitting yoko tyres.

It all depends on the offset of the wheels you choose, which will dictate how far in or out of the arch they sit. The lower the number, the further out the wheels will sit.

+1 to this, I think most 12x6 wheels will be fairly likely to foul on the arch when turning at full lock, it depends on the offset though.

Even the standard 4.5" Rover wheels fitted with 165 tyres quite often rub the front of the wheel arch on lock.

Expect to modify the front arch as per S pack if you go down that route if you are after the deep rim look.

There is no need to go over 5" rims for performance and the Mighty mini`s corner extremely well on the stock 4.5" `s

I have the standard Rover wheels fitted now.  Never any issue of rubbing.  Perhaps just to 5" as it's mostly for the look.  Thanks all.
