I don't think that'll polish out.

A bit heavy on the filler on the nearside front wing, too.

Oh dear, it seems to be broken!

Everything is repairable if you can afford to throw enough money at it.

Are XK150 body panels obtainable? If they are, it will be a great restoration project. It has a separate chassis, so once that is repaired the body assembly should be straightforward, but very expensive. The engine is easy to rebuild and whilst doing it a 4.2 litre unit would still look standard, as would a later gearbox.

What a fabulous classic that would be to own and enjoy.

I've been trying to get my wife to let me have a bid on it but so far no dice, on the basis that its getting so much publicity I think it will sell for a lot more than the estimate but in reality its priced right as a pair of front wings will cost around 8K, the chassis will need serious repair if not replacement.

Looking at the rest of the car it wasn't a shining example of the marque before the accident and that was 25 years ago so it will need total restoration for everything else.

Sadly by the time it has been restored it will have cost far more than buying one already done if you have to pay someone to do it for you (which most of the people who buy this sort of thing do).

I watched the live auction and the bidding was crazy, all I can say is a fool and their money are soon parted.  Even if one of these was worth 250K (it would have to be top spec to make that) you would have to spend well over 100K to get it into that condition.

Furthermore it will always be tainted as a car that has been badly damaged (and is now well known to be such) and when its rebuilt most of the parts will likely be replaced, probably even the chassis which will be bent like a banana.  I don't think with its history that people will ever pay top money for it, I certainly wouldn't and if it were next to another one in the same condition for the same money I know which one I would buy whether its been rebuilt by experts or not.

I think that people have got far to excited about it.

In the right hands most of the body work can be reshaped. As for value?is a Mini reshelled with a new BMH shell valueless? It will be well documented and presented as part of its history.
To some people 90 K is pocket money.Steve..
