Hi All,
Just joined, I have two (greedy!) late 60's MKII travellers. Both woodies
a 1967 Austin Countryman 1000 MK II in two tone Almond Green/Rust
a 1968 Morris Mini Traveller 1000 MKII in two tone Island Blue/Rust
Both are in need of total restoration..... I actually started on the green one (which has been off the road since the mid 1980s) nearly 20 years ago! and the shell was almost done, but life got in the way and it got put away. The Blue one was purchased as a parts car for the green one in Feb 2008 for £200. Based on what I was looking at when I agreed to buy it, I thought it was a shell with some glass, and doors. Turned out that the £200 also included all the parts that had been stripped off it. It was suddenly no longer a parts car and became another project! That got put away in the same lock-up as the Green one.
The story with the Blue one is that it developed a fault in 1971 and was taken off the road and stripped by the owner, who then developed an undisclosed illness and was unable to do anything to it, it remained in his lockup until he died in 2008 and the car ended up at my local bodyshop where I happened to come across it. As a result, its odometer has only just ticked over into 5 figures Sadly the lockup did not have a door on it :-( so the front end of the car needs work whilst the back end is almost perfect (basically I was after the rear doors and the wood trim!)
I know I am not going to get started on them until next year as I have a lot of other projects this year (including a garage build.... which I kind of need to do first!) but just thought I would say hello and join the forum.
Sorry to admit, I also have a BINI (R55), and a Stag (obvs) plus a couple of others.
