Best Answer GraemeC , 03 May 2021 - 05:13 PM

Smash the trumpet to bits with a hammer and cold chisel - it's toast now anyway.

So.... Recently changed my front Cones. I can't have located the passenger trumpet into the rubber cone properly. Today on a short run, there was aloud bag, when I got back the passenger trumpet has broken around half the flange that meets the trumpet. The cone is now half compressed and at an angle I can't get the spring compressor tool in.

Has anyone got any ideas to get the cone compressed by other means or some idea on how to get this trumpet out? Or any help

I like it, that was where my head has got to... was just worried about the thing still being under pressure.

It will be a bit, but shouldn't be an issue as the top arm will already be pushed down as far as it can so there should be no fear of you trapping any part of your hands (unless you crap with a hammer!)

Remove the lower bump stop rubber from under the top arm - will let the arm drop slightly further.

Once the trumpet is broken up, then remove the top arm to get the cone out and re-seat as required.

(Ideal time to install some hi-los - I have a used pair of if you want!)

Managed to get an angle grinder in, and cut two slits, then sit the middle back with a chisel, and it all collapsed in. Wasn't as much energy there as I feared!! Thanks for the help!
