One of the last jobs to do is to fit the internal rectangular covers with the two built in clips

I have two sets but none of them want to stay in the holes properly

has anyone got a sneaky tip to get them to stay in

I tend to gently squeeze the plastic pegs on the back with a pair of water pump plies until they've spread enough to stay in position.

What about trying a piece of heat shrink on 1 of the pegs.

I have the same issue due to fitting aftermarket door cards. The tabs on the black plastic covers aren't long enough. Only option I've found is to use the chrome style ones with the screws. Would be grateful to know if someone knows an alternative method of fitting the originals.

I've ended up with a collection of these, none of which stay attached to the door...

A little bit of double sided (number plate) tape does the trick, too.

Thanks

Maybe I’ll try all the above at the same time then the little buggers won’t fall off

I went for the large vice grips option, spread the lugs out and tapped on with a wooden block and hammer,
They haven’t fallen off for the last 30mins which is about 29 mins and 59 secs more than before

Thanks

That method has worked for me for 35+ years!
Had to 'grip' them again a couple of years ago when I replaced the original door cards with new Newton commercial ones.
