I'm thinking of fitting a low oil pressure buzzer -

when driving , the oil light isn't really that noticeable , I tend to look for pot holes now a days & other cars

a buzzer would let me know instantly that something is wrong , either that or a fog light oil light

Thanks Sledgehammer

i think that would be a good idea, this is my daughters car and she probably wouldn’t notice a little red light somewhere outside her immediate field of view as she’s a new driver ... A little buzzer would be a better warning to her

Do you think you would hear a buzzer when driving a Mini!!
I have a huge orange light in my S which comes on at 22 psi. That really does grab your attention

HRE just had a viddy on oil pump pressure drop on a race engine rebuild;

Turned out the pump itself, newly supplied, was duff, badly machined. Went with another supplier and all was well.

I had exactly that on a 1275 'S' and it ws DGS (Dirt, grit & s***) in th pressure relief valve. That was despite a thorough clean of everything before final assembly.

That needs to be the first thing to check.

100% spot on as always Cooperman - we had this on a Austin Maxi in the 1970's, full engine rebuild just before my Dad drove it and us to Spain.  Day two of the journey through France and the oil pressure dropped.  We had to drive back to the UK at 40MPH and only in the evenings when it was cooler.  Dad checked the pressure relief valve and it had some debris stuck in it ...took 30 mins to fix.

Had a great alternative holiday in Cornwall I seem to remember!
