How free to move should the advance function be? I would think not stiff enough to restrict vacuum advance but not sloppy either. Given the choice, I would opt for loose, to allow for smooth, unrestricted movement. Don’t know how much vacuum pressure the diaphragm exerts.

Thoughts?

Thanks for the reply, Nick. I agree. This unit is too stiff & ‘notchy’ as compared to some others that I have. Sending it back to the manufacturer.
