wanted to put in a braided clutch hose between the master cylinder and the slave cylinder on my clutch. A because it looks nice, B because I like the practicality of a banjo set up and finally I like a bit of bling, who doesn't?

Bought the banjos and bolts from Mini sport for the Mini, 3/8, (9.525mm). When I looked at Mini clutch braided hoses....OMG.......these really are expensive, despite being nice and shiney.

Whilst browsing, I came across some braided lines for Motorcycles, banjo fittings 10mm, with the added bonus that they were available at many lengths ranging from 50mm up to 2 Meters and they were incredibly good value ranging from £10 to £20, compared to the car ones which ranged from £40 upward.

Decided to go for it, HOWEVER   they don't fit? for some reason even tho the mini banjo bolt is 3/8 fitting the final part of the shaft, where the largest copper ring goes onto is about 11mm and so won't fit. We all like a bargain but sometimes it all goes wrong. :(

Excuse me but what are the advantages of these braided lines instead of the solid original ones? Do these last longer?

Allows you to shift the slave out of the way when doing the clutch or engine out.  Same as putting them on the MC/servo  gives space.

they can last longer.

A stainless braid protects the internal rubber hose ... which is effectively the same as the non-braided version. Be wary of anywhere that the stainless braid contacts, it will rub through paint and solid copper line in a remarkably quick time, easily protected though with a rubber cover at the contact point. Ironic really.

Not in (decent quality) brake and clutch hoses. A braided hose will have a PTFE inner which will not brake down the same as rubber and therefore not become a ‘one way valve’ that is a common problem with older OE style brake and clutch hoses.

PTFE will crease &  crack though, so you need to take a bit more care to avoid twisting & bending them to tightly.
