I currently have my battery disconnected whilst it is connected to the CTEK charger using the crocodile clips.

I was hoping to connect the CTEK with the ring connectors and leave the battery connected up. So basically, drive into the garage at the end of the journey connect up the CTEK and leave without having to faff about getting a spanner and loosening the battery terminals?

Does anyone do this with theirs and have they had any problems with it?

All of my less used equipment and cars are on Battery Tenders. On the mini I have the connector attached so I can plug the charger in quickly when I'm not driving it. The battery is always topped up and the current battery is over 6 years old. The only time I've had problems is when I forget to plug them in.....

Could you not just charge it with the battery connected to the car?

Could you not just charge it with the battery connected to the car?

I was never sure how safe that would be so err'd on the side of caution and disconnected it first. Before I started using the CTEK i always disconnected the battery because the alarm immobilser drains the battery if left long enough.

That is what I would like to do now and wondered if anyone else had encountered problems.

It will be fine to use the rings and just plug in the charger when the car is in the garage.

Whilst I have the Optimate charger/conditioner and not the CTEK. I leave mine permanently connected to the charger/conditioner whilst in the garage. The battery is connected to the vehicle and I have been doing this for a number of years with no detriment to the battery or vehicle.

If I have a power supply then the charger is just connected with the battery as is. If I don’t then I have to remove the battery.

I have had a CTEK fitted to my 205 for 6 years and never had a problem!

I can even plug the charger cable into the car and shut the bonnet as there is a small gap for the charging cable to fit between the light lens and the wing.

Yep, ctek ring terminals permanently attached to battery, just plug the charger in to it in the garage, left on permanently 👍

Mine is permanently connected with the ring terminals and I just plug in to it to charge

I had to drill out the holes on the ring terminals to a larger diameter to fit battery clamps

I use the crock clips as I show the car, but like others, it's attached if the car is being left more than a couple of weeks.
