Sorry if this is a duplicated question but I can't find it dealt with previously...
I am replacing my 32yr old Lucas fuse box today. I Have bought a genuine Lucas replacement however there is a difference:
Terminals 1 and 3 of the new item are permanently connected by a short bus-bar on the underside.
If I'm correct, this means that lots of electrics will remain powered up even with ignition off since terminal 3 (brown) goes straight to battery.
So have I ordered the wrong unit? Or should I cut the bus bar out?
Or I could install it upside down?
Any advice much appreciated.
Rich.

Check your own unit, if its a 4 fuse box it'll have the bus bar

No the original doesn't have it. Looking at the wiring diagram in Haynes it shouldn't have it.

Think I've just bought the wrong one. Will see if I can adapt it.

I've cut it out. No problem. Still a bit mystified though.

The standard fuse box doesn’t have the bus bar, but I think the fuse box with the bus bar was used on an MG, possibly the B?

All minis I have are the 4 fuse box, all have the bus bar fitted

I don't dispute what you're saying and thanks for chipping in but surely if you follow the standard connections 1-8 you must have stop lights , indicators and heated rear screen all available with ignition off?
Unless your car had some electrical mods.?

I reckon I bought an MG version.

Yes the version with the jumper certainly suits an MGB.
Quite funny really - if you look over at the MGB forum they're all equally confused about the same issue!

Apologies, I've just been to the shed for a look, 1 and 3 are linked (permanent live to switched live) on my boxes, not a full bus bar so to speak
