Hello, I thought of asking you guys opinion here as this is the only classic uk car forum that I join, and I thought you guys are more knowledgeable on these sort of cars.

Anyway, I am looking at a 1965 Sunbeam Alpine which I learn was a series 4 with 1.6 liter engine and have synchomesh gearbox.

It is offered at around £11,000.

There is also another early generation of 1963 MG MGB asking for close to £15,000, I have been told it was referred to as "pull handle" model.

Despite the MGB is being refurbished recently, both cars are in similar good condition.

I understand that aftermarket parts are more common for the MG, it is more powerful and faster as well.

But the Alpine is a more unique car with a 50's kind of design.

I wonder what are the other strength and weaknesses of both models?

Are they reliable?

Alpine all day long for me if in nice condition. That is a decision of the heart not the head though.

Looks alone, the MGB.

Alpine; rarity should mean good future value and it is prettier car.

Unless you are interested specifically in an early pull handle 'B', you could get a really nice later model in great condition for far less than £15K. The GTs are really practical cars. The Alpine and the B are very different cars so it might be down to heart over head.

Sadly rarity does not Always equal value, but it can often mean limited/expensive parts.MGB is well catered for and I have had two for her thirty years(might be biased)Your heart, your choice, enjoy whatever you buy.Steve..

There is another early MGB just offered to me at around £11,000 now as well, that that makes 3 MGB available around me vs 1 Alpine.

But I rarely seen a GT available though, at least I have not seen one for sale.

I wondered why are pull handle ones are more desirable? Any technical differences?

I think I might go check out the Alpine first since I can get the MGB later if I ever change my mind as it is easier to get.

Thanks for your opinions.
