Hi all. I'm on with a major rebuild of my 1275gt. I'm fitting heritage panels for floors, sills, boot floor, shuttle, rear panel etc. But, I would be keen to save a few quid on non gen panels, if the general consensus is that they fit well.

What are peoples view on non gen panels for the following...

Rear wheel arches
Full rear quarters
Rear valance

Many thanks!

I used Magnum full quarters.  Both sides needed a little work on shape to match with the c-post.  this just needed a little slit with disk and little push into place.

I have a non gen valance, but its older than the car so cant say if later quality is any better.

The only non gen part I used which I wish I had not is the A Post, too much work required and possibly the cause of most of the issues Ive encountered.

Good luck with the build.

Mmm, ok the Magnum quarters you can get away with but expect to work the B pillar area.

The inner arches I would go Heritage. I have fitted these on three resto S with no issues.

For my two bob's worth I struggled with Magnum panels the rolling of the edges is vague and generally takes a lot of work to get them to fit well. Another way to look at it - a well restored 1275GT should be worth north of £10k dodgy panel fit will impact on the value, you will recoup your 'Heritage Panel' investment long term.

This says it all. Yes you can make Magnum panels fit and reasonably well but the overall finish of a Heritage panel is far better. Every external panel on my car is Heritage other than the external sills which are M Machine and the door steps which I had made at a local metal fab shop.

BUT I will say this about BMH panels, they can be shoddy as well. My clubby front panel was not what i expected for the money I paid ( ugly plug welds, poor gaps for the panel to wing etc) and a BMH bonnet which was crap, that bad I had to return it.

I've used magnum valance, rear quarters and rear inner arches. Other than what's been previously mentioned regarding the b post fitment on the rear quarters, I found them all to fit very well and very pleased with them.

Cheers guys! It confirms what I thought, and that is to go with heritage. And yes I know what you mean about heritage panels being shoddy! Some really clumsy welding on parts I've already bought! Not brilliant considering the price!

Minispares in York had a new shell on display a few months back. I wasn't impressed one bit with the build quality. Again, lousy welds.

Anyway, thank you for your advise. Heritage all the way, regardless of price and quality!

Appreciated
Dave
