I know that new cones need some time to settle but the mini looks like it's been raised!
What kind of height increase should there be and how long do the new cones take to settle?

Impossible to say as we have no idea what it was like before or what it is like now.

brand new Minis sat higher than people remember.

settling depends on how much use it gets among other things.

And which cones too

Ive not had any trouble with FAM3968 cones and find they settle reasonably quickly and don't start off with the comical height you see with some others.

Which ones are you using?

Get some miles done with them, I don't know what Austrian roads are like but in the uk roads where I live, they are so terrible and lumpy my new cones took about 60 miles to settle.

I am not sure which ones are fitted I am presuming standard as they were fitted by previous owner. I know they are new as I had them out while removing Hi-Los (don't start this is a tüv thing here in Austria and I am putting it back to standard to get it proofed to get number plates - then I change back to the hi Los)
I compared them to my old mpi cones and they look new and are way longer.
I will have to drive it a bit (after getting number plates) and see what happens

I could do with replacing my mk1 cones but it does so few miles it could be years before it looks normal height again.

I swapped out original rear shocks for Koni Gaz-adjusts, kept old cones and trumpets in place. Rear ride height went up significantly and after 1k mile not much settling. Unsure why shocks alone can cause so much change in ride height.
