Hi folks,

Got my 1981 mini on the rottiserie, it is mounted by rear shock mouts and also to the rear parcel shelf, the front by the subframe mounts.

The body is braced internally from the rear bin seat belt mountings, accross the doors and to the steering rack mounts, also the tunnel is connected into the bracing.

I am keeping the tunnel to fit 2 full floor pans with both sills attached. I have cut out the floor pans and old sills.

I have started cutting out the boot floor but stopped as i was not sure if this would allow the body to flex too much.

Will it be safe to remove the whole boot floor, rear subframe mount and the floor pans?

Or will I need extra bracing from the rear rottiserie mount onto the internal bracing?

To fit the floor pan the rear subframe panel should be removed so there is not a lot left.

Cheers

I would always recommend that you replace the panels 1 at a time to keep things in check. Even with bracing.

It's just not worth cutting everything out in one go if there is still strength left in the existing panels.

Different story if the whole undercarriage is a crumbly mess though
