Does anybody have a video link showing how to check the timing on a stock 1970 850 using a timing light.

I just want to check it, there is no issues and the car is running fine.

Thanks

There is no link posted?

Tried youtube, can only find using crank pulley timing marks (later model).

Thanks

Remove the access plate on the clutch cover and using a mirror to shine timing light, compare pointer to timing marks on the flywheel.

I would prefer a vid showing the entire process from start to finish on a stock 850, might be asking too much.

I think DS3 Shooter covers using the bell housing marks for timining in his video series:

That video is wrong model as it uses pulley marks, mine has none.

Thanks anyway

Look at the flywheel end of the motor, there should be markings on the flywheel viewed with a mirror

Setting/checking timing is so basic yet causes so much confusion.Have you a timing light?dumb light or dial back light?read the instructions for your chosen weapon.Connect to no1 cylinder nearest the fan.Remove plate on clutch housing.Using every safety precaution known to man start engine and shine light through hole. The flash will illuminate some numbers or TDC depending on your tool(you have read its instructions so you will know what to expect). Here is a photo from an old manual to show what you should see.Put everything back and bask in the new knowledge you have developed.Steve..Attached File  IMG_20210622_133953.jpg   76.19K   1 downloads

Painting over the thin 1|4 line with white paint/Tippex will help too

Indeed the biggest issue I find when mobile tuning is ignition timing and fueling being incorrect. It seems, a lot of people talk about it, but very few actually know how to do it.
