Hi everyone,

I feel like I'm missing something as I cannot find any reference or similar topics as to how I should be wiring up the earlier style indicator bulb holders. I've tried looping a wire through the holes and soldering them in place, but that let's loose after a slight wiggle so doesn't seem correct. I then tried bullet style terminals, but they are way too small for the holes on the fitment spots. How do I wire them up?

The rubber boot also came with three holes, but my wiring loom only has two wires for the indicators (green/white and black). What's the third one for? Note that I'm fitting these earlier style indicators to a '94 SPI wiring loom.

Hope someone can point out the obvious!

They from memory were a ferrule which the wire was stripped and the bare wires folded back over it and pushed into the loop retained solely mechanically. There may be an elegant way of using these but I am at a loss,Sorry.Steve..

The three-hole boot is for the brake/rear side lights. Hopefully the third hole has not been punched through otherwise stick some silicon in it to seal it.

Above is correct .. the ferrules push through and trap the wires.

The last time I replaced one of these was in the early seventies.

I seem to remember they were as Sonscar said. They were definitely bullet connectors can't remember if they were soldered or the wires were pushed through and held in place by the bullet as Sonscar said above.

Below is a video showing someone doing the same job. The terminals are slightly different but the method is the same

They use a bullet that you either push the wire through and fold over, as previously mentioned, or some stick the wire in and fill them with solder.

My solution was to make a fitting from brass that routes the wire out the back of the rubber boot.

Thanks everyone! I went for bullet connectors in the end, the loops they go through are not closed, so I had to make the diamater slightly smaller to properly clamp these connectors in. I do like the solution above, but I don't have the means to do so.

The rubber boot did come pre-perforated in all holes, so i've sealed all of them up with a touch of silicone.

Old style hollow bullets are slightly larger.

Link also shows how to form wire correctly
