I have a Racing Green Mini and I'm getting ready to have it painted, so I'm looking for some specific information.....

First of all the I'll need the paint codes for the metallic green paint and white roof, also is there a code for the grey used on the mirrors, door handles, grill (?)  and so on?

Second, the stripes I can find on Spares or Sticky Fingers all have a gold trim, whereas the ones on my car appear to be the same grey as used on the trim rather than gold.

Is that the correct look for these stripes or could they have been grey? Could my stripes merely have faded to grey over the years and been white/gold originally?

Appreciate the help!

My 1989 Racing Green is almost completely original so hopefully these are the right answers.

The paint code on the VIN panel is a composite which refers to the combination of racing green and white diamond. Off the top of my head, the correct code for white diamond is NMN/655. There were various kinds of racing green but you want the metallic (not pearlescent) version, and 1989 not 1994 - again off the top of my head the code is HNA/617.

The handles, grille and other exterior trim on a 1989 car will be Nimbus Grey, which is very hard to track down. If you are spraying parts, Rover Hurricane Grey is a decent match though will be slightly glossier than the original matt Nimbus finish. On a 1990 car these parts are black rather than grey.

My stripes are white/gold. The stickyfingers ones (http://www.stickyfin...lid-Decals.html)

look right to me (and the typeface is also correct - some other sellers use a more rounded typeface)

This page has images of the 1990 cars (at the top) and 1989 (further down, with the white wheel trims) http://www.austinmin...check mate.html

The difference between the 1989 grey and 1990 black isn't as clear on screen as it is in reality!

+1 from me for some1158's reply. I have a 1989 RG as well. Some of the Nimbus trim is very hard to get hold of now. Originally you would have had a single door mirror on the driver's side, grey handles, grey grille, grey boot light and a grey roof trim around the edge of the roof. Also grey plastic wheelarches. As some1158 says, in 1990 this was all black with the addition of Rover alloy wheels, like the Mini 30 from 1989 (with the holes lined up with the spokes).

Thanks to all for the replies, I really like the metallic green color of my RG, so I want to try and get it as right as possible. I know I saw the info in another thread on the forum a while back but I could not find it, try as I might.

I appreciate the info on the stripes too - mine have probably just faded, or possibly been replaced at some time. The straight stripe on my car looks like it's one piece and looks to be the same grey as the other parts rather than two stripes (white and gold) as Sticky Fingers says. However the box at the back looks like both the edges and the letters in the box could have been gold at some point....it's very faded now so hard to tell. I'm not a big fan of gold trim and Sticky fingers say they can make the stripe silver grey and also the trim and letters in the box. I may have them do that.

I replaced the mirrors with new ones in black as my grey ones were broken, so I wanted to repaint them to match the door handles and such.

My car does have the grey mirrors, door handles and boot handle, as well as the grey trim around the top. I think my car was built at Senefe as it's right hand drive and has a set of arches I have only seen on one other car, and that was a German market car (might also have been built at Senefe? They could be aftermarket, but I've never seen them for sale anywhere. I would love to get another set if I could....

Appreciate all the help!

Seneffe closed in 1982 so it will be a Longbridge car, and the arches are aftermarket. The arches look a little like those on the LAMM cabriolet, which was coverted initially for the German market c. 1990. German enthusiasm for big arches eventually translated into the Sportspack arches made available after the BMW/Rover takeover.
