Currently stripping & refurbishing my front subframe, my front wheel swivel hubs have 2 different types of bearings.

Drivers side has a tapered bearing & passenger side has normal ball bearing type.

1992 Italian Job Mini

Can anyone shed some light on why I have 2 different types? Are 2 different types available? Would ideally like them the same so does this mean changing 1 hub to match other?

Thanks!

Someone was a cheapskate. Both sides should be Timken taper roller bearings. The ball bearings are found on the drum brakes Minis and are dimensionally identical.

Funny. My 91 was the same when I bought it. Roller on the left, tapered on the right.
