Good Day Gentlemen, Ladies.
My name is Bryan for the past 5 years I have owned a MK2 Riley Elf which with the help of "Old Bones Fabrications" of Andover Hampshire was restored to a high standard and was featured in the August Issue of "Miniworld" magazine. Sadly a couple of weeks ago I had to be recovered home by the RAC as I could not select 3rd & 4th gears. I managed to drive the car the next day to Wimbledon and "Waterfall Garage Services" for investigation by Dave a former colleague. I am a Development Auto Electrician (Rtd) so if you read the article you will see I had a custom loom made for the car.
The gearbox was beyond repair so I sourced a 4 synchro gearbox from a 1980 Mini c/w gear change which will now be overhauled and fitted in place of the old 3 synchro gearbox with the help of "Somerford Mini" and "Minispares" who are supplying the necessary parts needed to fit.
Whilst the engine/gearbox is out we shall also be updating the timing chain to timing belt to give much smoother and quieter operation.
