Any recommendations for engine build companies?

 

I am wanting to go down the 16v a series route.

Or does anyone have an engine for sale privately ?

Decide which head you want first.

 

there is not much to chose form engine builders when looking at the main companies. But if you don’t want to use then pick someone local so you can check on their work.

Specialist Components are the main guys to go to who specialize in the 16v A-series builds. I've recently had mine done by them, although I have had my fair share of headaches with it, as many members will have seen. However despite the endless problems, I've now put over 1k miles on my engine and it's bloody fantastic.

Oz @ OAP - he's on the forum, builds some stonking engines and has experience of 16v.  Won't feed you bull as he's not in the market of selling parts.

Thanks chris 1992. I've had a good read of your page, i am glad your all sorted now. What a run you had. Your mini looks mint by the way. Very tidy.

And thank you Mini Car Jack, I've been speaking with the guy selling that engine. Only thing that puts me off this is he hasn't ever had it running. Although its a gamble buying it if it is what it is then its probably around half the price of getting one built.
