Hi all

another question for you that i hope you can help with.

As I am rebuilding the front subframe up I have notice that the n/s (passenger side) tie rod is too short. It hardly reached through the subframe at the front to get a nut on.  Probably 1/4" to short

All bushes are new and original spec.

The tie rods look standard with no adjustment.

The O/S looked to align very well

The car has been 1000 auto and I am putting a 1275 Manual in

The subframe doesn't look bent and best as I can I have measured it.

Any ideas please?

Cheers

Steve

Is it the same length as the other side?

if yes just pull on it a bit more to get it to fit.

They are the same length. If I force it to fit it pulls the bottom arm out of alignment by deforming the bush

All back apart at the moment as I am remeasuring the subframe for straightness. Something must be damaged/bent somewhere.
Thinking possible front location from kerbing or bottom arm from previous jacking in the wrong place??

To add I don’t know any history of the subframe. As said earlier I am converting from auto to manual and larger engine

Try rotating the hub and/or levering it up.

Good luck
