Both my Jack's have died and I have a voucher for Macine Mart.

Looking at the low entry cheep one here:

But there is a aluminium fixed handle one here. Wondering if it's worth the extra 100 odd quid.

Anyone have any experience with these?? Thanks

Between those two - the alloy one all day long.

Not really any lighter, but much more stable, slightly lower pad height and better wheels. The handle isn't fixed (can be removed by pulling out the little know on the back), will be much longer so easier to use and also controls the raise/lower rather than the crappy screw on the other.

The Aluminium one is good as I have one but the castors on mine have been damaged or were not that good from the get go. But I would still recommend. Had mine now for over 10 rears.

A replacement set is over £35 from Clarke.

I have the 2.25t version of the cheaper jack. It does what I want it to do, never had any issues & would buy again. However I had the same choice as you and chose cheaper, but if I was doing it again I'd probably go with the aluminium. It depends really on whether a 1.25 jack was big enough for my cars.

As an alternative supplier there's SGS

Great I'm convinced! Going to get the aluminium version but get a slightly bigger 1.5t version so it is OK for my Alfa too. Thanks

I have an SGS jack and after about 6months of use it started to lower with the release nut turned off. so yes cheaper, but so is the quality.

I've been using one of these for over 10 years.

No doubt many of these ali 'racing' jacks are made by the same place.....
