Currently running a single HIF44 and looking to revert back to a "standard looking" carb set-up.

Engine has a few goodies so probably out of the range of a pair of HS2 items and into the realm of HS4s.

The question is .... is it possible to fit the original air filter box of twin HS2 carbs onto a pair of HS4 units?

Is it just a case of getting the correct elbows and everything bolts up or are there other dramas lurking around?

Any help appreciated.

It can be done (sorry, I don't have any particulars, I've just seen several photos), however given the rarity and high value of even a half good Twin HS2 Air Filter Box, is cutting up and modifying one something you'd like to do ?

There is several other options around that not only look good but work well.

I was hoping that cutting up and modifying wouldn't be part of the deal!

Like yourself, I've seen photos but I can't tell if any of the airbox has been modified.

Sadly, they do need to be modified, or at least all the ones I have seen were. The opening in the base to the Carbs needs to be bigger and a different shape and some cut outs have also been done in the front of the base, in that folded corner, to clear the bell of the HS4 Carbs.

I don't know if you're handy with light fabrication or know someone who is ? I nice 'factory looking' one could be made.

Vortz made a twin HS4 air box which was almost factory style. I can’t think of any other metal air boxes for twin HS4 carbs. The police spec Aussie cars had Ramflo filters, I guess the other period option would be some pancake Coopers filters like from an Austin Healey
