The needle will sit off central because it is a biased needle.

It has a small spring what make it sit this way, so it is not bent.

Thanks,

So its the correct needle for the job then?

Just wondering possible reasons why I get a second or two lag when I accelerate hard?

The mixture looks to be ok looking at the plugs

I think maybe a slight advance on the timing, and I mean a very very slight increase, that may take away the slight hesitation on acceleration.

I had a Triumph GT6 - 2 litre engine, and when I had to set this up, it was a long long process.

I had to buy completely different needles that were matched for a Triumph TR7, then play with the mixture and timing accordingly.

It took around 60 miles to set it, but as I was advised at the time, forget about what manuals state because these were made and printed when petrol contained

lead, and the octane rating was what it should have been. Petrol these days is absolute complete *******

Your needle is fine, biased needles are what they say - Biased - because it makes it lean the needle a particular way, making it "Biased
