My wife has been using the mini to get to work over the summer

The other night she put it away, in the morning it wouldn't start because the battery was completely dead.

I have a Ctek charger but if the battery is too flat it wont even start charging, I normally connect another battery to the flat battery and it will start charging.

I tried doing this this morning but as soon as I connected the other battery the starter motor turned over even without the ignition on or the keys even in it.

What would be causing this

I have had to disconnected the main starter lead so I could charge battery up

Any help would be useful

Thanks Charlie

Sticking or jammed solenoid, or faulty ignition barrel/ switch I'd say

Starter switches do fail - even new.

They can stick in an on position internally. It is the copper contacts, they get hot and stick

Just putting this in the mix, it does happen, it has happened to me.
