Can anyone advise on how to fault find for this? The actual hazards and lights are all working (hence passed MOT) but the lights on the central console (blue for h/b and orange flashing for hazards) are not working. The back light on the fuel gauge is working, and the green indicator lights are working. Am guessing a bad earth somewhere, but where?!
Orange flashing light for hazards? You have the lamp inside the hazard switch which is red. If this is not working but your hazards are then it will be the connection from the wiring harness to the lamp on the switch or the bulb itself. Pull the switch out of the panel to check.
Your high beam lamp (blue) should flash when you flash the headlights and come on solid when you operate the main beam. If your main beam lights are working fine and your dash illumination lights are working fine then the problem is most likely to be in the bulb or holder. If this is a central speedo unit then check that the bulb holder is firmly pushed into the housing - it earth's via this and if it is not pushed in fully may not have a good path back to earth. Also check your bulb. If it is neither of these then you should start checking voltages on your feed wire and at the connectors in the circuit.
There are some really good wiring diagrams on the site that will help you if you need to start any serious fault finding
