I have a 1993 rover mayfair 1275 carb - mini spares have no stock of the later spin on type oil filter housing,

can I install a early spin on oil filter housing and change the oil feed line to match ?

Yes. Minispares sells or used to sell an adapter hose for it.

Not sure if it's any help or if you have seen them, but these are avaialble

If you do run with the earlier Head, you'll need a Braided Hose that has the right fittings on each end;-

thanks for your help,

yes I did see the race spec one only thing that threw me off was the mounting face didn't look like the roundish/ oval shape like my current one - are they all interchangeable ?

I haven't had one in my hands, but from what I can see in the pics and description, yes, they do appear interchangeable, however you do need to use this 'Race' version with an early Canister type filter head gasket, easy enough.

One thing though I would suggest checking on is I've notice some of these Billet type Oil Filter Heads have the threaded boss for the Pipe at a different angle and so the original steel pipe will no longer fit, necessitating the fitting of a Braided Hose. I'm not at all sure if that's the case here, but would suggest you ask.
