I'm looking for a online store that sells Lucas lights & parts of.

I'm not looking for any Mini lights at the moment but this forum is very active and been so helpful I thought I would ask on here.

I'm looking for a factory Fog Light (Just the light unit which is the lense & reflector cone) for my 1953 MG YB. I know the part number (7H5166) and was hoping somebody on here might steer me to supplier.

Thanks in advance

Assume you found Somerford, Moss-europe? You may find something similar from an auto electrical supplier, Kitcar parts supplier : Autosparks, Europaspares.

The Lucas catalogues used to be online, but they seem to have been taken down made restricted access for some reason & if it's old it may not be listed.

Owners clubs -either here or in the US - Youtube & Facebook might chuck up some contacts???

I do know that the Lucas name is used by Caerbont in Wales

Lucas is a name that is used under licence only, basically, if you want to make Lucas items, you pay a fee, then you can use the name Lucas.

The old factory at Hockley Hill in Birmingham went years ago, so did a lot of Lucas plants.

I have copied and pasted the address below for you. I have had items from them, and they are very good.

WOW, a new light unit for a 68 year old car.... now that's a big ask!

To help you find one there is a list of alternative part numbers on page 31 -

https://www.mg-cars....df/altparts.pdf

Have you checked out the MG Y Type Register yet? -

https://www.mg-cars....contactus.shtml

5 hours of searching & all I can find is a complete Fog Lamp assembly-

http://www.ntgservic...nal-SFT575.html

Expensive! but you could sell your existing light to offset some of the cost.

Other alternative are....

Get your reflector re-coated - not going to be cheap as it requires a specialist to do the job.

or IF the lens & reflector are held together with an adhesive sealant then find/buy a unit where the reflector is the same diameter & profile, use the new reflector & use your original glass lens to keep it looking authentic.

I've used this method on (more modern) lights when i couldn't find 'New Old Stock' replacements.

Thanks guys some great pointers .

And thanks so much for spending so much time "one carb or two", that's incredible and much appreciated!

I had no idea they would ask so much for a good 2nd hand one but I now have options.

This is such a great forum
