Hello folks,
I think I have pinned down the dodgy starting in the 1340 to my Sparkrite inductive discharge electronic ignition. Nothing is broken it is just C**p. Please do not buy it it is a waiste of money.

Anyone fitted the Lumention Magnacoil kit? If so how have you found it?

I have used both the Pertronix conversion to a Lucas dizzy and I've installed a complete Hitachi (Nissan) distributor. Both options proved to be reliable electronic ignitions.

i've had the lumenition sport kit fitted for years now, and its never missed a beat, but sadly it costs a small fortune these days(£280-£300ish i think),my mates hillclimb car has standard lumenition on a 140bhp engine, and that too has never missed a beat.

I had Magnetronic in my old Checkmate, and it was great. Always started first time even in winter, no points bounce any more, no servicing. And it's your original dizzy so you keep your ignition 'map', which is great if you've had it tuned.

The current motor runs a re-tuned late Metro 55DE4. That's just as good as the Magnetronic and may be what the Magnetronic was based on. If you get the Metro dizzy make sure its curve will suit your cam, as it is a bit fussy as standard. MLM can re-tune them to suit.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Sounds like I'm gonna have to dig deep and buy the Lumention set up
