These might be more of a bargain than expected as the ring ends look like "wall-drive" versions not standard ? (good for rounded fasteners where normal spanners need the corner to grip)

I think that is more to do with they way it was made rather than a design feature. It does mean I can bin some of the knackered old cheap ones.
