HI all,

Got standard minilites - 4.5 x 12 et35 with 165/60 r12 falkens fitted

The TUV here in Austria say they are not ok as they stick out about 2-3mm from the front standard plastic wheel arches.

Does mini spares or mini sport do a edging strip that fits the standard plastic wheel arches? I have had a look and not sure which might fit. This hopefully would fulfill the TUV requirements

2mm! That sounds extremely petty.

Couldn't you just put some packing between the arches & the body?

Rubber or PVC moulding???

If they are the 'standard' plastic 'Special' arches then they won't easily take an edging strip.

For a permanent solution you could swap them for some Group 2 that would take an edging strip.

If you only need a solution to get through the test then I'd remove the rivets and replace them with bolts with a couple of washers between the arch and the wing.  You may only need to do the middle ones and leave the end ones as is - just to ease the top of the arch out.  Fill the resultant gap with a bit of closed cell foam (draught excluder type stuff)

This rubber seal strip from Minispares is used for the wheel arch to body seal for neatness such as with W&P arches and may do the job:-

I`ve had the P section rubber on my standard Rover arches for 20 odd years as the arches were taken off and the rivets were replaced with 4 mm Phillips headed bolts for rust proving maintenance.

The picture isn`t the best due to the car being very tightly parked but hopefully you get the idea !

Standard Rover Minilights and Yokohama 160/60-12`s

The only other thing you can possibly do check you don`t have positive camber as that will make the tyre stick out at the top, mine has half a degree negative and corners on rails.
