The roof is line-welded, isn't it ?

The roof skin is roller welded yes.
If you only need to replace the roof skin itself, then go for a new skin if you can.
It would make for a much simpler job.
To remove the skin, I always cut the bulk of the skin off with a 1mm cutting disc just a fraction above the gutter and then grind the remaining edges of the skin from in the gutter carefully with a grinding stone and finish off with a sanding disc to smooth it all off.
If you are going to plug weld the new roof skin on, consider drilling through the gutter and plug welding it from the underside of the gutter.
This way, you will be able to grind the welds back with more ease than trying to grind them from above in the tight gutter.
Of course, lots of people use second hand roofs with part od the pillars and this is fine. Just make sure that you stagger the joins for the inner and outer pillars to achieve maximum strength.
Lots of careful measurements will be required so take your time.

Replacing just the roof skin means you can clean up any rust in the gutters. Whatever you do, do not panel bond a roof skin on.
