Best Answer ManningsMini , 26 September 2021 - 10:26 PM

Well I checked around for more damaged wires and couldn’t find anything.. I cleaned the ring connectors up and gave it a go. It seems to have done the trick!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, should be able to get her over to brooklands for next weekend! Go to the full post

I got up nice and early for Goodwood last weekend and barely made it a mile down the road :goaway:

Car started fine, left it to warm up a little. about 500 yards down the road I lost power for a split second as I changed into second gear - this happened another two or three times over the next few minutes before she cut out completely trying to pull away from a set of lights. We pushed it round the corner to a parts shop and having found the blown fuse (30amp MEMS relay) replaced with a new one.. Which blew immediately.

Fast forward a week and I have had some luck getting the car started from cold and will rev fine while stationary however when you put it in gear and start to release the clutch the fuse blows again. I have checked around for bad wiring and repaired a section behind the air filter but this hasn't solved the issue.

I'm feeling a little lost and far from an expert.. Any ideas?

Just a thought, but I had an issue with my MPi where it would hesitate under acceleration. Couldn't find a cause until, pulling hard out of a junction, it died completely.

A wire had been fretting against the clutch master cylinder and shorting, until it had finally blown the fuse.

Possibly worth a look.

Check the wires at the starter also. These are prone to wear and cause the issues you describe.
If in doubt clean tne ring connecters on all wires to the starter. One less thing to go wrong.
