--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hi guys ,
the mini is fitted with a 4 bolt inch 3/4 carb , i managed to get the car running yesterday by adjusting the mixture screw , and was chuffed to hear it run .

went out to it this morning and it wouldnt start ! not even a fart, trying to turn .

the choke opens the throttle slightly on this carb , {with no butterfly as a choke there is only a throttle }
is this how it works ?

it just doesnt want to start and its very frustrating .

can anyone help ?

iv tried this

followed these instructions with no joy

To set the carb properly. Since you cannot look directly into a mini carb take the top off and remove the piston. Turn the jet adjusting screw until the Jet is FLUSH with the bridge. That is, as high as possible without exceeding the level of the surrounding carb body. I use the end of a steel rule to be sure.
Then turn the adjusting screw two turns down/clockwise. Put the top together again and you now have a starting point to get your engine running. When the engine is warm you can fine tune the mixture, but if the engine doesn't start with this initial setting then you have other problems.

i have never came across a su carb like this b4 , it has 4 bolts on to the manifold and the float chamber sits directly below the carb , {does anyone no what model of carb this is ?}

If its 1 3/4" or 44mm its an HIF44 carb found in late non injection coopers and MG and VP Metros. And yes the float bowl is underneath.

Don't know enough to help with the querry but someone should be along soon!

**Just a thought, are you getting fuel to the spark plugs - may have a blockage somewhere? Is there spark at the plugs** Standard stuff really, just trying to eliminate the obvious.

too much choke + no throttle on butterfly = no boom with spark!! well it can anyway!! shud be a cam on the choke linkage that opens up the butterfly even tho the choke on the 1 3/4" ads air too!!
