"The existing London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will expand from the 25th October 2021, to create a single larger zone up to, but not including, the North Circular Road (A406) and South Circular Road (A205). Cars, motorcycles, vans and other specialist vehicles (up to and including 3.5 tonnes), and minibuses (up to and including 5 tonnes) will either need to meet the ULEZ emissions standards, or pay a £12.50 daily charge when driving within the expanded ULEZ zone. The ULEZ operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year except Christmas Day (25 December)."

Looks like I won't be travelling through inner or outer London then.

There must be a lot of car owners with older cars living in outer London fuming at having to Pay £12.50 a day

I can see both sides of the coin living in central London. There is just too much polluting traffic on the roads....as well as just too much traffic in general.

Saying that though I don't think classic cars should necessarily be penalised...most classics (even those under 40yrs old) are only taken out every so often and not used as a daily.

I keep mine outside of London so it's not an issue for me, but classic car owners within the circular will not be happy. Those with historical cars (over 40yrs) are exempt however. Mine being a 1990 however has a few more years to go yet.

I checked my 41 year old car on the tfl website and it says that I will have to pay £12.50 ULEZcharge in the outer london zones.

Just checked and according to their website my 1962 mini is exempt from the ULEZ charge but liable for the (central London) congestion charge. Not that I will be driving in unless I have to given the mess they have made with cycle lanes and more

Best wishes

Mike

I worry about the prospect of classic car ownership and events simply not being viable propositions in our towns and cities due to indiscriminate emissions charging. We risk losing touch with the next generation of classic car owners.
