In the process of refurbishing my gearbox, I've discovered that the speed take of shaft has got chewed up; along with the hole in the speedo drive cover; It's an A+ DAM5626 box with speedo cover casting marked DAM5218.

 

I happen to have a good pre A+ cover marked with casting number 22A110; Apart from a slight difference in the casting internally around the bottom flange area I can't see a functional difference.

 

Does anyone know of a reason why I can't use the earlier casting an A+ box?

I think they're interchangeable.

If you find otherwise, I may be able to help with a DAM5218.
