Hello

 

I have a crazy plan and I am curious what you all think about it 

 

For many years this Mini stands in the garden of my friend. He wants to cut it for scrap but I am thinking about the rescue. It is a Mk 3 and it hasn't got any identification : no VIN plate, no documents, no engine, no interior. 

 

My idea to dismantle all panels at the weldings. After cleaning, repairing and priming all of them I should rebuild the body in a jig. There is no deadline for the task.

 

What is your opinion ?  Did anybody made similar restoration ?

That's a crazy plan but I love the idea :)

You will have a rust free Mini in the end!!

 

But, there is an engine in it? Or are the starter and oil filter flying in the engine bay?

 

Oh, and if you look at the project (66' van - the rustiest ever), it's not far away from a total reconstruction from each panel...

Good point but he took these pictures more than 2 years ago. Since then he sold the engine. As I remember it was a 850 and I saw it running in this car

I've finished my Mini in 2 years. This one would be a learning adventure as you said. 

 

Unfortunately I am in the lack of a workshop at the moment :)

I had to restore my mini in a single brick garage, luckily I bought a 360 turn-over jig.
